Men's Rugby
The backbone of our competitive rugby is the men’s section, with three senior sides: the 1st, 2nd and 3rd XV. Our Regional Rugby Partnership with Rams Rugby, just up the road in Sonning, has given players access to first-class coaching and a clear pathway between the two clubs. Since the partnership began, the standard of rugby has risen, the club has become increasingly attractive to new players, and matchdays have become more exciting than they have been for many years, with growing crowds coming to watch.

The KITES
Reading launched the first women’s rugby team in Berkshire 35 years ago.
The Reading 'Kites' were proudly voted Berkshire Women’s Team of the 25/26 Season, recognising the continued growth, success, and impact of women’s rugby at Reading RFC.
We are incredibly proud of the players who began their rugby journey at Reading Rugby Club and went on to represent England on the biggest stage.

Seeing players develop through our club and progress to the Premiership and international rugby is a source of great pride for everyone involved at Reading.
The 2025-26 Red Roses squad featured three former Reading players. Abby Dow retired from international rugby at the end of last year after scoring 50 tries for England and helping the Red Roses lift the World Cup. Alex Matthews remains a two-time World Cup winner, while Millie David, who left Reading just three years ago, marked her England debut with a try after progressing to Bristol Bears.
To see three former Reading players in the Red Roses squad is a tremendous source of pride and reflects the pathway that continues to develop players from Reading to the very highest level of the game.
It began 50 years ago and now generations of children have taken their first steps in rugby at Reading RFC, building confidence, friendships, and a lifelong connection to rugby.
