The Reading Rugby Foundation is looking to help schools across Reading and the surrounding area introduce more young people to rugby, or enhance their existing rugby provision with new equipment. To do that, we need your help. Through your local contacts and relationships with schools, you can help us identify where this funding can make the biggest difference.

Communications to Reading RFC Junior Section regarding Reading Rugby Foundation Funding

Dear RRFC Member,

Helping more young people discover rugby is something we all care deeply about. The good news is that Reading Rugby Foundation has funding available now to help make that happen.

Whether it’s providing equipment for a school, supporting a community club or funding a rugby taster event, we want to back projects that introduce more young people to our game.

Over the last five years, the Foundation has supported rugby development in two ways:

  1. Training Equipment

  2. Funding for packages of balls, bibs, tackle shields, bags, cones and marker poles. Schools and community organisations simply provide a wish list and preferred supplier, and the Foundation considers each application for full or partial funding. Typical grants are around £1,500.

Taster Events
Funding for tag rugby festivals and coaching sessions in schools and community settings. These events are delivered by local partners, with Craig Hunter leading many of them to date. Typical grants are £500 to £750, with larger awards available where justified.

There is still plenty of funding available.

How you can help

If you already have a good relationship with a school or community organisation that could benefit, please start the conversation. You can either coordinate the application yourself or ask the school or organisation to submit a proposal directly through the website or by contacting [Mike/Stuart].

If you know of a school or organisation that could benefit but don’t have an established contact, simply let us know. We’ll follow it up, keep you informed and involve you as the opportunity develops

If you have any questions, or ideas for other ways the Foundation could support rugby participation, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can help even more young people discover and enjoy rugby.

Best regards,
